Job Summary

The role is responsible for working with data and translating it into a compelling story. Works with large, ambiguous, datasets and collaborates with team members to build deliverables on a day-to-day basis. Conducts data analysis using industry tools. Creates data visualizations using a variety of approaches and tools. The role is also responsible for analysing and interpreting internal data while incorporating external research. Researches and develops an understanding of key industry events. Identifies trends and relationships within the data. Creates, edits and participates in client presentations. Collaborates with team members on client research questions / interviews and ad hoc projects. Supports efforts in the development of new models, analytic processes, or system approaches.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

Identifies data requirements, cleans datasets, performs statistical and data analysis, creates reports and visualizations.

Conducts research projects and studies to provide both qualitative and quantitative analysis on complex issues impacting the delivery of aviation services within domestic and international airspace.

Acquires and validates data from internal and external data sources; build tools and processes to maintain and leverage insights from collected data.

Supports the continued Implementation of the strategic planning framework and corresponding initiative assessments by overseeing and conducting research, interviews and fact-based quantitative analysis.

Prepares presentations and develop reporting mechanisms that communicate identified trends and patterns to stakeholders.

Keeps abreast of industry trends and dynamics that may impact the workforce plan and implementation.

Leads regular reporting and monitoring related to staffing and training KPI’s.

Ensures the timely production, maintenance and reporting of performance metrics data providing support to the organization. Interprets, validates and reports on current, historical and forecast data in support of Workforce Planning activities through the application of various analytical and statistical techniques across the company.


Post-secondary education in a field related to Business, Economics, Analytics or Aviation, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training.


2 years of relevant work experience in applying primary research and/or statistical/analytical tools to solve research/practical problems.

Experience conducting or participating in, quantitative and qualitative research and studies, analyzing and synthesizing results and developing various means of communicating the process and meanings of outcomes (summary reports, presentations, briefings).

Experience and exposure to a range of data and analytical concepts and methodologies, including primary research – surveys, interviews, observations, financial modelling.


Knowledge and understanding of the techniques and practices of data collection, manipulation and validation, the organization of information for reporting purposes.

Knowledge of desktop software and modeling tools and the ability to interpret and evaluate data for consistency.

Working knowledge of Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint and other reporting and presentation software.

Working knowledge of statistical analysis tools and software (R preferred).

Knowledge of the aviation industry and Canada’s air navigation system.

Knowledge of Systems Thinking: how people, processes and technology relate to each other and interact to create a system.

Ability to articulate assumptions, methods, and results to peers and management.

Ability to organize statistical and research-based information for presentation in the form of reports and recommend improved methods of work, enhancing the quality and efficiency of reporting.

Ability to perform work in an environment where attention to detail, accuracy and timelines are a priority.

Ability to develop methods to ensure analysis models effectively and sufficiently describe the domain.

Ability to communicate insights effectively verbally, visually, and in writing.

Work location is Ottawa Head Office. Remote work is required during the pandemic. Alternate work location may be considered under flexible work arrangements.
