The Meteorological Authority Office resides in the Office of the General Counsel and represents the Bureau as the designated Meteorological Authority for Australia and assists the Director of Meteorology in the regulation of aviation meteorological reporting services.

The Meteorological Technical Advisor is an important and challenging role that coordinates the aviation meteorological service activities for the Meteorological Authority Office. The successful candidate will draw upon a deep understanding of aviation meteorological service delivery within global, regional and national contexts to provide expert advice to customers and stakeholders regarding the provision of aeronautical meteorological services under Annex 3 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation.

They will represent the Bureau in a variety of inter-departmental, national, and international conferences and committees. Using excellent interpersonal and strategic management skills they will work to ensure alignment between Bureau activities and national aviation strategic objectives.

The Meteorological Technical Advisor will have strong management and planning skills with experience in relevant fields such as aviation meteorology, audit and regulation. They will have a proven track record of working with a diverse range of stakeholders and a strong commitment to building a shared sense of purpose and direction in teams operating in dynamic environments.
