Supervises the field construction of a project, including its organization, planning, and scheduling, in order to complete the work on time, within budget, and to quality specified. The Project Superintendent will be part of the team at the $2.6 Billion Terminal 1 Replacement Project (T1RP) at the San Diego International Airport. The T1RP project includes the design and construction of a new terminal that includes 30 new gates in two phases, demolition of the existing Terminal 1 in the 2nd phase, a 5,000+ stall parking structure, new arrival and departure roadways, central plant upgrades, and supporting site utilities.
Reports to: General Superintendent
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Primary liaison with owners/architects/engineers for the day-to-day construction activities of the project.
Developing and implementing overall project work schedules identifying the critical path including the expediting of scheduled critical materials and equipment for their timely delivery to site.
Leading, supervising and developing all Turner field staff, including providing input on or completing performance appraisals.
Ensure strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements at all times.
Developing and managing the overall site safety program as required and ensuring subcontractor compliance with Turner standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations.
Managing and making decisions related to the performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control and trade employee staffing levels.
Overseeing work among all trades to promote a coordinated project operation. Resolving local area problems regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment, schedule and all other appropriate matters.
Managing labor relations with subcontractors and Turner trade staff.
Implement mock-ups and associated testing, review and approval.
Ensuring all necessary permits and insurance are in place and kept current for the term of the project. Acting as liaison to inspection agencies.
Performing in the capacity of Stormwater Compliance Coordinator (SCC) in accordance with Turner’s Stormwater Compliance Program.
Managing the General Conditions and General Requirements (back page) for the project to maintain budget.
Managing the billing process as it relates to work in place and overseeing the monthly estimate of work completed, payrolls, material invoices and subcontractor payment applications.
Managing the work to ensure that it is installed in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents.
May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
The following experience is REQUIRED:

10+ years’ experience as a Project Superintendent leading teams of Superintendents on large commercial projects with at least 5 years’ experience on aviation projects including BOTH land side and air side construction
2+ years’ experience as a Project Superintendent leading teams of Superintendents on large commercial aviation projects managing the construction of the following areas: ticketing, baggage handling/carousels, security checkpoints, holding areas, gates, passenger boarding bridges, people movers/escalators, TSA requirements and airport specific communication systems
Experience as a Project Superintendent at SAN a plus
Experience working within a collaborative BIM (Building Information Modeling) environment.
Hands-on experience creating, inputting and updating the Construction Schedule utilizing Primavera P6.
Hands-on experience working with Prolog project management system software.

Additional qualifications include:

Bachelor’s degree with minimum of four years’ related training and at least eight years of building construction experience required, or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of the general and subcontract documents, drawings and specifications, construction means, methods and materials, understanding of line and grade and survey methods.
Knowledge of construction cost control and basic accounting procedures.
Computer skills and a familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs.
Knowledge of Primavera scheduling desirable.
Ability to implement leading-edge methodologies such as LEAN construction and BIM to benefit the project.
Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
