Intelsat is hiring a highly motivated individual to lead the strategic sourcing function for our Global Commercial Aviation subsidiary, Intelsat Commercial Aviation. This position will serve as commercial aviation process owner for all 3rd party capacity purchasing by working closely with sales, engineering, asset management and business development. The successful candidate will serve as subject matter expert for non-Intelsat fleets. This role is also liaison between Commercial Strategy, CTO and Asset Management teams to optimize fleet, develop new satellite designs/investment and ensure company maximizes the benefit received from an annual company spend exceeding $100M.

Commercial owner of strategic 3rd party capacity process for commercial aviation globally. Works with Business Development to strategically manage external relationships and ensures that the appropriate touch points within the organization are tasked at the appropriate times. Makes sure that expectations between parties are transparent and add value to Intelsat

Coordinate future needs/requirements by connecting Strategic Sourcing and Asset Management functions.

Provide support to Capacity Contention Steering committee, ensuring company is making best decision for company regarding asset allocation when contentions arise.

Develop 3rd party capacity plans with Product Marketing teams.

Building the business by strategically targeting third-party assets for growth

Focus on supply chain management by developing a full understanding of third-party satellite and equipment offerings in the market that meet our customers’ needs. Be subject matter expert on 3rd party assets

Work with Business Development to create long-term strategies with key suppliers.

Create a diversification and optimization strategy as tied to Intelsat bandwidth by working with Asset Management to determine where third-party capacity should be integrated into its fleet or deployed on future satellite

Partner with Demand Planning Team, Asset Management and Platform planning teams to forecast 3rd party capacity needs and develop tactical and strategic plans to ensure customers’ needs are met

Coordinate and develop information-sharing with Intelsat’s Market Intelligence function. Feed operator specific information to team when appropriate.

Coordinate and leverage relationships developed within other Intelsat business units to ensure Intelsat sources capacity through the most advantageous path for Intelsat.

Responsible for portfolio of $100M+ annual spend with other satellite operators to supporting commercial aviation business.

Engage and evaluate partners and competitors

You should definitely have:

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related technology

A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in the satellite or telecommunications industry

Technical competency in the following areas:

Satellite systems design and link budgets

Ku satellite remotes and DVB-s2 and 2x modem systems or equivalent functionality
