The Strategic Bid Excellence Manager will have the day-to-day responsibility of working alongside key stakeholders to create ‘winning’ bid responses for strategically important private / public sector opportunities. They will also have responsibility for a number of Bid Excellence Managers whose primary focus will be to respond to ‘BU Growth’ opportunities. The remit extends across UK&I Sales for both new and existing customers.
The role holder will support the Head of Bid Management in creating and delivering the overall team strategy, meeting all expectations and goals set by the business. They will ensure ‘bidding best practice’ and robust process management is applied to bids created by themselves and their team, ensuring each bid is customer centric, creates impact, has a clear value proposition and considers the reader. They will review, provide constructive challenge, and help refine bids managed by their team to help maximise the value of proposals and increase win rates. This will include ensuring clear, effective, and rationalised win strategies, aligned to powerful value propositions, are developed and consistently applied.
What are you accountable for achieving as the Strategic Bid Excellence Manager?
Manage a pipeline of activity that has been aligned to either ‘strategic’ or ‘BU Growth’ opportunities.
Attend pre-tender ‘capture’ meetings for ‘strategic’ bids with key stakeholders to influence the bid position and evaluate our readiness to respond.
Manage virtual bid teams and inputs from a variety of stakeholders for ‘strategic’ bids, typically involving contributions from sales, solution design, project delivery, commercial, legal and operation.
Implementation of winning bid strategies and coordination of response requirements in line with agreed processes.
Lead and facilitate value proposition sessions, including the creation of the storyboard for the bid response.

Experience of Supply Chain would be advantageous but is not essential.
Understanding of key functions – incl. Solution Design / Operations / Finance in logistics is desired but not essential.
Min 2 years’ experience in managing / creating bids (ideally gained within the Supply Chain / Logistics industry) or strong evidence of the key skillsets required attained through similar roles.
Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills, and a proficient user of Microsoft Office, preferably with advanced knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, ADOBE and Excel.
Ability to demonstrate experience of bid management and creation.
