Senior Software Engineer – Experimental Aircraft Operations Job at Calspan Corporation – 3.3 in Niagara Falls, NY

Overview:
Headquartered in Niagara Falls, New York, Calspan’s Flight Research center is home to a fleet of experimental aircraft that include the USAF VISTA NF-16, four Learjets, two Gulfstream G-IIIs, and a Premier 1A. These aircraft are used for variable stability programs, airborne equipment testing, and a variety of other flight research projects for private and government organizations. We are looking for a motivated Computer or Software Engineer to join our team to assist with designing, building and testing computer and software systems for our experimental aircraft.

Responsibilities:
Due to security requirements, US Citizenship is required.

Support execution of testing operations in accurate and efficient manner. Design, develop and maintain embedded systems in testing environments as a member of a software team.

Maintain and document software approaches and solutions through the software life-cycle for multiple programs.

Support development of new applications and test procedures. Evaluate new technologies for implementation. Conduct research that tests and analyzes feasibility, design, operation and performance of systems.

Work with an Interdisciplinary team to define requirements, design software architecture, implement and unit test code, integrate software and checkout with aircraft systems.

Support structured SQM and SQA processes.

Qualifications:
Preferred Education / Experience:
Bachelors/Masters CS/EE/CE or equivalent experience

5+ years in software development or related discipline or;

A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:
Embedded Linux SW development

Linux device drivers development

Interfacing analog/digital/serial/avionics busses I/O hardware at register level

Git SCM

GNU toolchain

Qt graphical applications

C development, C++ development

Structured SCM and SQA environments

Network programming

Strong verbal and written communication skills

MIL-STD-1553 bus
