We are looking for a Security Officer to join us on our bench team to cover two sites, based at our client site in Leicester at the head offices for a large retail and commercial bank based in the UK.

As a bench team Security Officer, you will cover the core team’s absence, sickness, holidays etc. Being on the bench team gives you a foot in the door, with opportunities to become a part of the core team when vacancies arise.

Responsibilities include:
To respond to pre-planned or significant events and to provide an initial first response to any such events. Identifying suspicious, criminal events and ensuring an effective guarding response.

To offer first-class customer service and advice/assistance and be a visual presence and reassurance to staff/visitors and contractors

Protect the premises, property and personnel from theft, damage and violence.

Patrol the site to prevent fire, flood, theft and damage.

Operating, monitoring and responding to installed security and safety systems including CCTV, Access Control, Intruder and Fire alarms.

Provide details of incidents to Control Room for the purposes of incident reporting.

Escort duties, both internally within the premises and in support of objects transported by the road where required.

Checking firefighting equipment and reporting any faults.

Ensure that all emails and telephone calls are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.

Meeting & greeting visitors, contacting their hosts and inducting them to the site.

Essential Skills

SIA licence

Demonstrate excellent customer service.

Have corporate security experience

Hold excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.

Be able to work both day and night shifts on a flexible shift pattern

Demonstrate the ability to think and act quickly in emergencies or under pressure;

Have an ability to deliver succinct and clear verbal and written reports where necessary.

Maintain a high standard of personal presentation.

All security personnel are required to be vetted in accordance with Guidelines on Security Screening (BS7858) covering a period of five years. Failure to accurately and fully disclose work history may be detrimental to gaining employment with Wilson James. You will need to be able to evidence a minimum of 5 year’s written work history – this evidence needs to include any gaps of over 31 days and periods of self-employment.

Successful candidates will be vetted by Wilson James before employment is confirmed. Wilson James take the vetting process extremely seriously and have a dedicated team who validate employment and investigate gaps. For this, candidates who are invited for an interview must be able to provide a full 5 year or back to school work history, accounting for any gaps and proof of right to work, address and SIA DS licence.

Failure to provide this evidence will result in Wilson James not being able to comply with the BS7858 Standard (the British Standards Institution for screening individuals employed in a security environment) and therefore no offer of employment is able to be made.
