We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Safety Coordinator to join our fantastic Launceston Airport team.

Key responsibilities:
The role’s duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Assist in the coordination, implementation and tracking of APAL safety culture initiatives, including the APAL Positive Safety Intervention program

Develop, implement and effectively roll out safety training across the airport precinct, covering APAL staff, airport-based staff and contractors

In consultation with the APAL project management team, ensure construction tenderers have appropriate safety management systems in place to safely deliver projects on the Launceston Airport site

Complete safety inspections of construction activities on the airport site

Participate in Launceston Airport safety forums, staff WHS committees and work with/support the HSRs to address airport safety concerns

Develop and execute the APAL Safety Activity Schedule (inspections, audits, safety interventions)

Administration of SIMS (Safety Information management System), including review, analysis and escalation of incidents and hazards to APAL stakeholders

Assist with APAL first aid preparations including audits and re-stock of first aid kits in APAL work locations

Assist in identifying system change requirements based on WHS legislation change and for organisational need

Facilitate incident investigations to identify safety system failures and identify corrective actions

Administer the permit to work system for Launceston Airport

The successful candidate will have:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a relevant safety role

Sound working knowledge of WHS legislation and experience in applying WHS legislation to workplace environments

Experience conducting safety inspections, positive safety interventions and hazard reporting

Advanced report writing and analytical skills, proficient process management skills (safety processes)

Solution-based approach to safety issues

Investigation experience and qualifications desirable
