The Role

In a dynamic and fast paced communications team, this role is responsible for creating and delivering integrated communications, from supporting the press office, writing press releases and statements, as well as creating content for social media and supporting social media community management.

The post holder will promote and protect the CAA priorities, aims and objectives across multiple audiences, including consumers, industry, and overflown communities.

From a social media perspective, the role will:
Support the creation of content and ensuring the CAA uses social media as effectively as possible; using social media channels to communicate the CAA’s key priorities and protect its reputation in a creative and impactful way.
Maintain and support the implementation the CAA’s social media strategy
Ensure the CAA keeps up with the latest trends in social media and is using the right channels – advising on best practice, creative opportunities and identifying emerging risks.

From a media perspective, the role will:
Support the press office and media activities, drafting press release and responding to media enquiries.
The post holder will also part of the Communications Department out of hours on call rota.

Core Accountabilities;

Support the management of day-to-day social media monitoring and content publishing – working alongside Communications colleagues.
Assisting with the CAA social media strategy to constantly enhance the impact and reach of the organisation’s social media activity.
Regular reporting on impact of social and media activity.

Support the Press Office media activities as per business needs.

About You

Expert in social media channels including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Youtube and able to advise on other potential channels for the CAA to use.
Working knowledge and experience of using social media publishing tools
Experience of evaluating and reporting on impact of social media activity
Ability to translate technical information into consumer-friendly content, including infographics
Ability to present information clearly and influence others
Working knowledge of monitoring and tracking delivery and impact of communications activity
Good organisational and planning skills.
Ability to work in a busy environment, respond to fast-moving situations
Strong writing skills and experience of writing engaging blog posts and articles, and news releases
Experience of delivering communications activity in crisis situations preferable but not essential
Media handling experience.
At least one years’ experience in a similar role.

Additional Information

This role is office based (currently 2-3 days per week) with home working on the other days. It does not require extensive business travel; however, some travel to Aviation House (Gatwick) and/ or Westferry will be expected

Many appointments within the CAA require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holder must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.

To be vetted we will usually expect a reasonable period of residency in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken.
