Location: DHL Aviation at East Midlands Airport

Hours: Monday to Friday, 20:30 – 05:00 (40 hours per week)

The Dangerous Goods & Restricted Commodities department sort, collect, process, inspect and ensure the proper build-up of all Restricted Commodities and Dangerous Goods shipments in accordance with the state & operator variations as well as our own internal local rules.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Handling and loading of radioactive material for medical use
  • Working closely with the sort operations staff, ACS, NOC & Special Handling
  • Making sure all paperwork is completed and filed correctly as per local processes
  • Maintaining a safety-first culture ensuring the network and staff safety
  • Ensuring all required checks and check sheets are completed prior to the freight being loaded for export
  • Successfully distributing, loading, flagging and scanning all Restricted Commodities freight
  • Ensuring all Dangerous Goods & RC freight is correctly loaded and secured as per load security requirements and operator variations
  • Inspecting and intercepting hidden dangerous goods entering the network and reporting accordingly
  • Using Motorised Equipment
  • Completing and investigating RCIR and CAA reports
  • Attending and passing a 2-yearly IATA DGR course
  • Attending and passing a 2 –yearly ADR, AVI and IMDG course
  • Understanding and gaining knowledge of the following systems – NMIV/RCTS/RCIR/RCTS/ACS T&T/TGV/DCVS/Q-Pulse

You’ll bring to this role:

  • Good ACS knowledge and DG awareness
  • An awareness of freight routings
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Methodical organisational abilities, paying close attention to detail
  • Confident and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to remain calm and focused, particularly whilst under pressure in time sensitive situations
  • Flexibility – this is essential due to operational requirements
  • Knowledge of types of aircraft and ULD capacities – desirable
