Job Description

Launching weather balloons twice per day to gather meteorological data that is used by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) for weather forecasting, aviation and other important purposes. The job location is at the Port Hardy Airport in Port Hardy, BC. The available opening is for weekends and holidays, as well as some weekedays when necessary. There are 2 shifts of 3 hours each per working day – one in the early morning and another one in the afternoon. This is an interesting and important work, which is especially suited to retired and semi-retired persons and amyone else who is looking for a part-time job. Paid training, lasting about 2 weeks, will be provided at the work site in Port Hardy. Mandatory requirements to apply are: 1) High School Diploma or equivalent, 2) Working knowledge of computers and the Windows OS, 3) Canadian citizenship or permanent residence status preferred, 4) A valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation, 5) Reliability Status Security Clearance (to be processed by employer if all the other requirements are met). Also, preference will be given to candidates who reside in Port Hardy or its close proximity.
