Duties

Serve as the site location and/or Command Aircraft Maintenance Officer, providing direction, guidance and clarification of Army, HQDA, and AMC regulations and policy pertaining to aircraft maintenance management for all assigned rotary wing aircraft.

Function as a maintenance test pilot in rotary wing aircraft.

Function as the Contracting Officer Representative for all contract supporting aviation logistics/maintenance.

Manage the quality surveillance programs and develops changes to maintenance policy, plans and programs, which include cost avoidance, manpower, mission, budget and resource requirements.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.

This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination.

Must meet and maintain annual physical standards, flight requirements, and written examination requirements of an Army Aviator on current flight status.

This position requires a drug test.

At the time of appointment applicant must possess a current first or second class medical certificate.

This position requires the incumbent to sign a mobility agreement.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience Statement: I have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal Service, obtained in either the private or public sector, which includes minimum eligibility requirements for positions in this occupation are based on possession of the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates and/or appropriate military ratings, meeting the applicable flight hour requirements, and possession of the knowledge and skills required for the positions; experience as a Maintenance Test/Check Pilot and Aircraft Maintenance Officer qualified in Lakota Helicopters (UH-72); in-depth knowledge of the practices, policies and procedures of administration activities such as contract administration, production surveillance, aviation safety and maintenance practices in order to advise contracting officers, facility commander on issues relating to Contract and ground operations.

Flight Hours Required (1500); Pilot in Command Hours (250); Night Flying (75); Flying Time in the last 12 Months (100); Multi-Engine Airplane (500); Heavy Helicopter (500), Instrument Hours (75). Flight Hours Must Be Documented On The Resume In The Above Format. (Please Include Flight Records In application packet. In-service placement actions, up to one-fourth of the total flight hours may be waived for candidates who have demonstrated possession of the knowledge and skills needed to perform the work, provided: (1) They hold the certificates and rating required, (2) They have acquired the pilot-in-command hours and flight hours in other categories essential to performance of the work, (3) They meet the requirements in terms of level and quality of experience and (4) Their flying history indicates they are qualified for the position.

CERTIFICATIONS: This position requires that you possess the following certificates and/or rating: a Commercial Pilot Certificate or the appropriate military rating. (NOTE: You MUST submit a copy of your certificate and/or rating for verification at the time of application). If establishing eligibility based on military flight experience, you must submit a copy of official orders, forms and/or log books showing your status as a rated military pilot.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
