The opportunity

As Head of Householder Portfolio, you will lead the portfolio management of the Householder portfolio within QBE’s Personal Lines in Australia. The role is responsible for managing the P&L for Householder products sold through multiple distribution channels, working closely with functions across the value chain to create and implement strategies, budgets and action plans aligned to the Personal Lines ambition.

Strategy and planning

Drive the design, development, and implementation of Portfolio strategy across multiple distribution channels, aligning to overarching Personal Lines strategy

Lead the portfolio inputs and considerations into business planning processes including budgets and forecast

Manage the portfolio P&L to deliver to portfolio targets through close collaboration with cross-functional team across Product, Pricing, Marketing, Distribution and Claims

Identify and implement strategy to grow target portfolio segments whilst managing the overall profitability of the portfolio

Translating strategies and plans into operational objectives for the business unit

Customer focus

Leverage customer insights from across the business to identify key gaps and opportunities to enhance performance

Develop and strengthen relationships both internally and Partners to ensure end to end insurance value chain is delivered seamlessly to markets

Technical performance

Drive understanding and evaluation of changes in the competitor landscape and the implications to our business

Review portfolio results and individual product performance, identifying trends and opportunities, and taking corrective action as necessary

Ensure end-to-end value chain actions align to Personal Lines priorities and objectives, balancing customer, regulatory and operational impact

Your story so far

10+ years of relevant underwriting experience

Advanced knowledge of the Insurance industry (ideally household and personal lines)

Advanced knowledge of risk management, portfolio management and underwriting

Extensive experience in building relationships, communicating, negotiating, and influencing at a senior level within the insurance industry

Effective planning and budgeting skills

Effective communication and organisational skills

Experience in a national underwriting/portfolio management role

Relevant tertiary or industry qualifications

Strong established customer/partner relationships
