As a Fuels PQ Excellence Lead, you will partner with business stakeholders to build truly integrated, collaborative, and competitive supply chains for Supply.
You will sustain the capability of the Europe/South Africa Trading & Supply (T&S) PQ and Claims team to support our fuels business in BENEFRUX (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, France).
The EU/SA PQ team provides Product Quality/Fuels Technical support to Trading & Supply, Retail and Commercial businesses located in 20 countries, organized in 5 clusters.
The BENEFRUX business and market environment is dynamic and changing; supply chains are changing, increasing competition, growing regulatory pressure, growth of gas-to-liquids fuels (GTL) and in particular Low Carbon Fuels, such as (Bio) LNG and Hydrogen. In short, an exciting place to be in.
In this position, you will contribute to sustain good Product Quality performance for all fuels across Downstream as well as contribute to increase business value.
Geographical focus area of this position will be BENEFRUX where Shell operates an extensive fuels business with complex supply chains, significant Refining & Distribution assets, and a large Trading business.
You will drive product quality assurance throughout the supply chain, performance audits, supports business in resolving product quality incidents, carries out root cause investigations and shares learnings from incidents across regions and businesses. Support is given to Mobility and Commercial businesses when introducing new products, ensuring product quality risks are clear, managed and mitigated.
Your team is responsible for maintaining fuel specifications for Pernis refinery, manages the waiver process in case refineries request release of product not meeting market requirements.
Your team supports distributions, terminals to ensure compliance with quality assurances standards in the area of main fuels and aviation fuels by performing audits and building competence staff by providing trainings and sharing learning from incidents.
Support is given to our marketing organizations preparing communications and responding to customer queries and claims. You will also provide technical courses to businesses to develop their fuels technical competence.
What’s the role?
Your responsibility as Fuels PQ Excellence Lead would include:
Act as Product Quality Excellence lead in BENEFRUX within the Europe/SA T&S Fuels Product Quality team: advocate the case for PQ assurance and provide technical support to Trading, Supply, Distribution, Commercial, Mobility and Marketing activities for all fuels.
Support launches of new (Low Carbon) Fuel products, responsible for completing pre-launch product risk assessments and managing product trials.
Responsible for follow up of product quality incidents in the supply chain and develops learning from incidents and shares with relevant businesses
Owns fuel specifications and maintains the PSS (Product Supply Specification) database including local customer supply specification files.
Waiver authority for all finished fuels
Supports Shell distribution terminals to strengthen quality assurance in the area of main fuels and aviation fuels; e.g. by providing LoD1 support (audits) and trainings/sharing learning from incidents
Provides technical support on customer issues for Mobility and Commercial on complaints, claims and troubleshooting.
Provides training to T&S, Commercial, Retail, CSC (Customer Service Centre), OTD (scheduling) and other 1st line technical support staff on an ongoing basis on product and fuel application matters
Active member of the Europe/SA PQ team by sharing local knowledge with the team, leveraging team knowledge locally, providing leave coverage and supporting the priorities of the Europe/SA PQ team and the wider supply chain.
What we need from you
As a Fuels PQ Excellence Lead, you would possess the following:
University degree with qualifications in chemistry, (chemical) engineering or science or equivalent professional experience
In depth knowledge of quality assurance, laboratory and analytical techniques, testing methods and sampling procedures
Experience in providing product quality/technical support to customers, internal or external
Experience in fuels related to technical/commercial sales, refining and blending, product development, product management, supply/terminal operations
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Fluent Dutch & English speaker
