Flight Test Engineer / Flight Test System Specialist Job at Boeing RIV Site – in Amberley QLD

The Opportunity

BDA and PW-I are business units of Boeing Defence, Space & Security. BDA is a fundamental part of Australia’s Defence Industry, supporting F/A-18, E-7, P-8 and soon to be Apache. PW-I specialises in the development of technologies and creating next generation prototypes of future Boeing products. As a member of the BT&E Test Team, you’ll work across both units.

As a BT&E-Aus Flight Test specialist, you will play a critical role in the development of a range of capabilities. You will collaborate with other Flight Test Team personnel, systems engineers and operators across the Company to develop procedures, safely conduct ground, flight and other operational test, and identify areas for continuing development of each platform. Your input will be essential to development of our system’s integrated hardware and software capability.

The working location is primarily based in the Brisbane/Amberley area; however, some flexibility could be possible. You will be expected to attend other work locations to support test requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the role of Test Director during the developmental test of complex platforms
  • Assess the performance and flying qualities of experimental air vehicles
  • Conduct integration and evaluation of complex systems
  • Accept a rare opportunity to play an instrumental role on an Australian first-of-type developmental flight test program
  • Be part of creating the future of Australia’s sovereign military aviation capability.

Experience/ Qualifications

  • Long Course graduate from a recognised Test Pilot School.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience conducting complex test on Military and/or civilian complex systems, including aircraft, vehicles and/or ships.
  • A minimum of six year’s Systems Engineering experience in a Military and/or civilian engineering organisation.
  • An engineering degree, or equivalent technical engineering experience.
