Financial Reporting Manager Job at Smiths Group – in Hemel Hempstead

The individual will be expected to make a full contribution to the financial reporting integrity and financial control environment of Smiths Detection. This will include accountability for the completeness and accuracy of all consolidated financial data presented to stakeholders (Smiths Group Plc, Detection management, auditors and investors), the appropriateness and application of financial policies and procedures, and engagements with external and internal auditors. In addition, the individual will support the strategic planning and budget preparations, design of KPI and monthly financial reporting and assessments of capital expenditure and business cases.
Duties & Responsibilities
Manage monthly consolidation of financial reporting submissions from Smiths Detection companies and review for accuracy in conjunction with local finance teams and India-based supporting finance staff.
Analyse results and prepare management reports for the monthly board meetings. Manage and coordinate the consolidation of the half year and annual legal accounts on behalf of Smiths Detection; supporting the Divisional Financial Controller with external audit deliverables and deadlines
Responsibility for reporting, forecasting and managing the HQ budgets & headcount; reviewing calculations of Group, Divisional and HQ recharges by India support team and ensuring the invoicing and payment of the invoices
Support Divisional Financial Controller to ensure the division has adequate financial controls in place that are sufficient to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial reporting.
Designing, implementing and maintaining financial policies and processes for the division, to be compliant with Smiths Group Plc financial policies and controls specific to the Smiths Detection division.
Developing data collection tools and templates to ensure data requirements are gathered and mapped correctly and in a timely manner. Facilitating change and implementation of new financial reporting system.
Ensuring treasury procedures are adequate for the divisional needs, including currency contract availability, control of bank guarantees and performance bond issuance as well as letter of credit control.
Supporting commercial projects such as business re-engineering, investment proposals, acquisitions and capital schemes with appropriate financial evaluation, approval and tracking of results.
Supporting ad hoc projects relating to business process improvement.
Complying with and promoting all relevant legal requirements & Smiths policies and procedures, including business ethics, data protection and health & safety.

The candidate should be educated to university degree standard and hold a recognised accounting qualification (CIMA, ACA or ACCA).
Post-qualification experience, in a similar role/based in industry.
Financial consolidation and reporting software and ERP implementations
Variance analyses, valuation, business case and analytical techniques, and of project implementation for major process change and/or restructuring schemes.
External audit techniques and liaising with auditors.
Experience gained within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Good knowledge and experience of application of accounting standards, preferably IFRS.
Excellent communication, including English as a first or second language.
Demonstrable track record of and commitment to developing people, and to honesty and integrity in all business dealings.
