SUMMARY: The Field Applications Engineering function is part of the sales group dealing primarily with customer support inquiries. This function is directly responsible for recommending solutions for the Midwest and any other assigned account or location.
ResponsibilitiesProvide applications, technical, installation and trouble-shooting consultation with customers on:
Lin Engineering products
Competitive products
Product integration
Address customer questions in a comprehensive manner to ensure customer satisfaction
Creatively analyze complex, vague, and difficult customer problems
Clearly articulate product value and business benefits
Assist in identifying customer needs and requirements to better qualify potential prospects for Lin Engineering
Review and analyze customer requirements through drawings, plans or other information to develop and prepare a detailed proposal which describes type of product needed, price, and delivery terms
Participate in or lead problem solving team for product specific problems and development opportunities
Travel to customer sites
Travel to exhibitions and support product demonstrations
Prepare documentation and proposal packages as required by customers
Assist with production of product brochures, applications reports and technical manuals
Communicate with other departments as necessary to provide timely responses to customer inquiries and complaints
Perform other duties as assigned.
General Requirements

Supports Lean implementation using such lean methods including but not limited to Process Mapping, Visual Management, Workplace Layout, Standard Work and How to Reduce 7 Wastes.
Establishes and maintains effective channels of communications with managers, co workers, affiliates, vendors, and all other business contacts.
Uses equipment and materials in a safe and acceptable manner, follows established safety procedures, uses appropriate safeguards, and observes common sense rules of safety in all on the job activities.
Conducts self in a manner reflecting credit on Lin Engineering and encourages others to do the same.
Must be organized, creative, independent and self motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, detail oriented, flexible in scheduling and prioritization, and driven by excellence.
Must be able to adjust tasks and focus with poise, and in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities.
Must possess proficient written and verbal communication skills, including accurate grammar and business correspondence knowledge.
Thorough knowledge of clerical and administrative practices and skilled in customer service.
Must present a neat, professional appearance.
A good sense of humor and belief in working as a cohesive team.
Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) in Mechanical Engineering from four-year college or university is preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficient with MS Office including Outlook, Word and Excel.
Highly proficient in SAP
