Position Summary

This person will be responsible for educational leadership, student instruction, and student advising in the Aviation curriculum area. Specifically, this person will teach courses related to aircraft and avionics maintenance and repair.

Abilities and Skills

Possession of current, valid Airframe and Powerplant License (A&P). (Minimum)
Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, administration, and the public. (Minimum)

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. (Minimum)

Possession of an Inspection Authorization license and/or Designated Mechanical Examiner license. (Desired)

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Technology or related discipline. (Minimum)
Master’s Degree in Aviation Technology, Avionics Technology, Aviation Science, or related discipline. (Desired)

Experience

Six (6) years of relevant trade experience to include; aviation mechanical/avionic experience on fixed wing aircraft and helicopter servicing. (Minimum)
Secondary or postsecondary teaching experience. (Desired)
Transport category aircraft maintenance experience. (Desired)
Avionics experience. (Desired)
Reciprocating engine overhaul experience. (Desired)

Responsibilities and Duties

Instruct and evaluate student performance in Aviation theory and laboratory and/or shop work. (Essential)
Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students as required by the college and the FAA. (Essential)
Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines. (Essential)
Write and update course syllabi and job sheets; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development. (Essential)
Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities. (Essential)
Contribute to the betterment of the College through School committee participation. (Essential)
Contribute to the betterment of the College through College-wide committee participation. (Marginal)
Assume responsibility for laboratory development, supply ordering, coordination, and maintenance. (Essential)
Assist with the preparation of grants and with follow-up activities. (Marginal)
Assist the Dean, Assistant Dean, and/or Department Head with the development and maintenance of outcomes assessment plans and documentation. (Essential)

Pay Rate / Salary

Commensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2021/22 academic year is $57,225 – $74,793.
