The individual in this role will lead a small team of FAA Technicians, Inspectors, and return-to-service personnel. There will be a keen focus on process improvement to help drive overall efficiency and inspection accuracy.
Primary Responsibilities:

Maintains FAA compliance with procedures for inspection and return-to-service processes.
Promotes aviation safety by ensuring adherence to all FAA regulatory and statutory requirements.
Ensures equivalency of tools and equipment used by the repair station and documents that determination.
Develops plans for continuous improvement for the team that drive overall efficiency and accuracy.
Ensures that the Technicians and Inspection personnel have documented training that meets all Repair Station and Customer requirements.
Perform QMS audits per the approved audit schedule.
Able to perform return-to-service inspections if needed.
Maintains Summaries of Employment for all management, inspection, and certificated personnel

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Aerospace.
Repairman Certificate must be obtained within six months after hire.
Will be required to pass J-STD, IPC-A-610 and IPC-WHMA-A-620 certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

FAA A&P Certificate desired but not required.
3-5 years of working knowledge of FAA Part 145 & AS9110 regulatory requirements
Prior experience as a Chief Inspector
Six Sigma and or CQE
Familiarity with common MRO practices
Strong analytical and communication skills
Must be highly responsive to internal and external customer requirements with a strong attention to detail
Must have solid technical writing skills and a strong work ethic with demonstrated leadership, business judgment and innovation
Stress tolerant to a fast paced, results oriented environment
Must be a dedicated team player
Must have strong oral and written communication
Able to interpret regulatory and customer requirements

Visual exams are required pre-hire and biennial to confirm visual acuity of 20/20 with or without glasses along with passing a standard color vision exam.
This position is a DOT/FAA safety-sensitive position. Initial, random, reasonable suspicion, and other possible drug and alcohol tests will be required in accordance with FAA CFR 120.109 and 120.217.
Positions with AbelConn involve the release of export controlled goods either directly to employees or through the employee’s movement within the facility. As such, AbelConn will require necessary information from all applicants upon an applicant’s acceptance of employment to determine if any export control exemptions or licenses must be filed.
