Primary FunctionPerforms non- routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project. Selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts.

Essential FunctionsCoordinates with personnel in related activities to resolve problems and schedule the work. Reviews analysis, and integrates the technical work of others. Provides oversight and training of other technicians.

Ensures the safe and efficient operation of the Engine Department and proper maintenance of vessel, plant and equipment.

Keeps the operational standard and the maintenance and repair of hull, structure and all mechanical and electrical equipment.

Administers the Planned Maintenance System.

Plans and logs working hours for the engine room crew and organizes the onboard safety-training program for emergency in close co-operation with the Chief Officer and the Safety Officer.

Assumes responsibility for the maintenance of technical operation records and files and for keeping a sufficient stock of bunkers and lubricants as well as ordering according to Company Procedures.

Responsibilities also include the evaluation of reported nonconformity, necessary corrective actions and verifications, as required by ABS American Bureau of Shipping, in co-operation with the Master/ OIM.

The Chief Engineer may be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization and vessel

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Education:

High School diploma

Engineering/Electronics Technician AA/AS degree or related curriculum from an accredited college or university or successful completion of technical school, trade school, or advanced armed services technical school or successful completion of at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of courses from an accredited college.

Experience:

A minimum of 10 years of work experience performing the stated function.

In lieu of post-High School education/training, ATMO requires a total of 12 years of work experience performing the stated functions in support of maritime installation electronics and operations

QUALIFICATIONS:

Specialized Experience and Skills:

A minimum of 2 years of the stated total experience must include implementing and managing quality control processes, performing workmanship inspections of products and services in the areas stated in the SOW.

A minimum of 8 years of the stated total experience must include wiring of electrical components such as data acquisition units; fabrication of wire harnesses; soldering of PC boards and other components. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact in a professional manner with our Government inspectors.

Certifications and Licenses:

100 ton Coast Guard captains license, Crane operators, Crane riggers,

Certified welder, Commercial Drivers Licenses, (3) Ammo-18, 49, (2) AMMO 51, 62, (1) Ordnance Driver/Forklift,

Security Clearance: Secret
