Employee Relations Manager Job at Wilson James in Westcliff-on-Sea

Are you currently an Employee Relations Manager looking for a new challenge? Are you a Senior Employee Relations Advisor who is looking for that step up or an HR Manager looking to specialise in ER?

We are looking for an Employee Relations Manager on a full-time basis, initially on a 6-month Fixed Term Contract with a view to being a permanent appointment, to join our team.

As an Employee Relations Manager, you will be responsible for delivering high quality and consistent HR advice and support service to the business.
You will provide proactive and professional HR advice across the organisation in support of Wilson James in achieving it overall aims and objectives with responsibility for minimising and managing risk to the organisation.
The ability to build strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external is paramount.

  • Leading complex case management, the ER Manager ensures that the organisational risk around people activities are managed and mitigated, working with both internal and external stakeholders to support Wilson James
  • Lead the TUPE transition for all new contract wins, acquisitions and contract losses
  • Lead on all aspects of formal employee consultation arising from changes in the organisational structure
  • Provide timely and efficient employment law and management advice for all employee related activity, including the management of employee tribunal claims
  • Manage all complex employee relations cases, including but not limited to disciplinary’s, grievances, absence and performance management, working with internal and external stakeholders as appropriate
  • Ability to build and maintain successful relationships with key external stakeholders including legal representatives and trade unions.
  • Lead the application of HR policy and practice providing expert HR advice on all people policies
  • Develop and deploy effective tracking, management and reporting systems to ensure the organisation has visibility and takes accountability for Employee Relations
  • Review policies regularly in line with legislation change, case law and specific employee relations cases, making any changes that may be required.
  • Provide relevant and timely Management Information and analysis in relation to ER cases
  • Ensure employee records are up to date, accurate and comply with all governance and legal requirements
  • Deliver consistently high quality and professional service to all customers
  • Respond to and resolve ER queries and complaints; escalating as appropriate to the relevant senior manager
  • Line management responsibility for other members of the ER team

Additional Information
Shifts/Hours: 6 Month FTC, Full time, 42.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 depending on experience
Essential Skills

  • HR experience at a similar level, within a proven background of managing complex employee relations matters, TUPE & formal consultation
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholder at all levels, challenging when required
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise conflicting deadlines
  • Effective team member, with experience of coaching and supporting others
  • Demonstrate flexibility in support of the overall team effectiveness

Desired Skills

  • Preferably CIPD qualified to level 5 or above
