Emergency Management Specialist Job at Wood Plc – in St. John’s, NL
Wood currently has an opportunity for a strong strategic thinker to join our team as an Emergency Management Specialist.
Emergency management is one of the several key specialty areas within Wood’s Digital Environment team. Our team is a national leader in operational and strategic resilience, supporting governments and industry around the world. We provide real-time weather risk insights, climate vulnerability and risk assessments, oceanographic and complex systems modeling, in situ and remote sensing expertise, as well as many other related and supporting services.
Preferred location is St John’s, Nfld but we may be flexible to other locations for the right candidate. Location and work hours for this role are flexible and will be agreed upon with the successful candidate.
To assist and proactively support Wood’s Senior Emergency Management Professional in the delivery of emergency management services to our oil and gas, marine, aviation, mining, and power clients in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Develop new emergency management business within Canada and select international markets.
Assist in the preparation of client proposals.
Assist with project management.
Conduct emergency response audits.
Write environmental, operational, and industrial emergency response plans.
Provide training to local, regional, and national command teams.
Prepare and deliver exercises.
Design and setup emergency operations centers.
Perform other duties and tasks as requested to support projects.
Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in emergency management, or a combination of other relevant education.
5 years’ experience in emergency management, incident command, and/or industrial emergency management.
Knowledge of oil and gas, marine, aviation, mining, and/or power industry practices.
Familiarization with industry regulations.
Good analytical skills.
Good planning and organizational skills.
Effective/competent MS Office Suite User.
High level of communication skills in both written and spoken format.
The following would be considered an asset, but are not formal requirements:
Incident Command System (ICS) training.
Major Emergency Management (MEM) training.
P.Eng., P.Tech., CRSP, or another professional certification.
French, Spanish, or other language skills.
