Summary of Position

To address the talent needs of the focus industries, JobsOhio has developed a strong portfolio of talent strategies to strengthen talent in the state by increasing production of graduates in in-demand skills, helping train workers, and increasing connections between employers and jobseekers. As JobsOhio expands its ambition we are seeking a Director, Talent Strategies to assist in building and driving these strategies forward.

Duties and Responsibilities

As the forward-looking leader, JobsOhio’s Director, Talent Strategies will develop talent strategy and oversee its implementation. The Director will be responsible to lead the team, work cross-functionally and collaboratively, in identifying and defining sector company’s highest talent needs (annually), production/skill gaps that may exist and recommend support and partnerships within the JobsOhio talent focus areas that can help fill gaps.

This position will:

Oversee the current talent strategies (ex: NextGen talent, modernization, reskilling fund and Ohio To Work) Oversee the strategy ensuring gals are identified, tracked and met
Partners are identified and leveraged appropriately
Ensure synergies exist where applicable across initiatives
Manage entire strategy portfolio from inception, development, piloting, scaling and monitoring
Identify and manage funding solutions (ie, pay it forward fund, income share agreement, earn and learn, intern and co-op etc.) to achieve the talent strategy goals

Manage the talent strategy team Enabling them to inform, build, and execute the talent strategies Ensuring analysis of emerging talent pipeline trends, the need for implementing state-wide and regional strategies related to trends, and making solution recommendations

Ensure barriers are identified that may be impacting the talent pipeline and create solutions to address these barriers are vetted and recommended
Utilize data intelligence along with company and provider/ partner insights to inform strategies

Identify and build strong relationships with providers / partners role ensuring partnerships are built and managed, resources are mapped and referrals are facilitated

Utilize agile mindset to iterate, learn, evolve strategies to meet demand
Cross collaborative leader and team member Must work collaboratively with team members; sectors, projects, marketing, regional JobsOhio Network partners
Informing teams around data trends, workforce activities, best practices
Gather insights, perspectives and intelligence from team members related to their expertise as well as overall company engagement occurring (projects, business retention and expansion calls etc.)

Stay attuned to global, national and state trends, best practices and case studies in order to inform JobsOhio’s strategies

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or business management

7 + years experience preferably in strategy or operations, staffing and recruitment, customized workforce programs, curriculum development or economic development

Leadership and management experience; managing teams, strategies, engaging stakeholders

Can work autonomously with limited oversight and direction
