As the Director of Aviation Business and Properties, you will provide director-level leadership to Aviation Properties, Air Service Development, and Airline Affairs, ensuring strategic alignment and consistency of approach to airline-related functions. This position reports directly to the Managing Director of Aviation and is a valued member of the Aviation Senior Management Team.

You will integrate functions and accountabilities of the Aviation Properties, Airline, and Tenant Affairs and Air Service Development into the strategies and overall responsibilities of the airport while working collaboratively with other Aviation Senior Leaders to lead airport-wide initiatives and goals.

You will be responsible for managing and directing the development of strategies, policies, and operating procedures for airline leasing, air service development, and airline affairs.

You will lead, manage, coach, and mentor direct reports in Aviation Properties, Air Service Development, and Airline Affairs. Set direction and purpose for these teams ensuring that programs are aligned in approach and strategic direction. Ensures performance evaluations and development plans are established and updated on a regular basis, identifies resource, training, development needs, and helps define tasks and functions and monitors workload and assignments. Provides regular performance feedback to direct reports.

You will create long-term air service development strategies and policies that target regions and prospective customer airlines based on broad and extensive analysis of global alliance alignments, carrier hub synergy, verification and strategic enhancement of international aviation bilateral treaties, airport incentive programs, and Seattle-specific market characteristics.

You will communicate strategic vision and provide direction internally, cross-departmental, and externally to gain support, consistency of approach, and integration of Seattle Tacoma International Airport airline strategy in regional economic development.

You will manage the relationships with airlines and has high-level responsibility for coordinating all meetings and negotiations with the airlines. Ensures that all airline requests are tracked and responded to in a timely manner. Develops and implements long-term strategies for airline affairs management.

Two years of experience may be substituted for one year of education:

Experienced – You have ten (10) or more years of experience Progressively responsible experience in the aviation and/or airline industry, with progressive leadership and or management experience including performance management and development of staff.

Educated – You possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, International Business, or related field.

Leadership – You create and maintain an environment that enables and facilitates high performance and individual responsibility. Use teamwork effectively to achieve results by utilizing strengths and capabilities and meet internal and external communication and coordination needs. Manage and work with people from widely varied technical and operational specialties. Develop staff for future assignments and management succession.

Problem Solving – You can manage conflict effectively, influence and effect change in a political environment, work effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including our community partners and while managing multiple and rapidly changing priorities.
