Astra Aerolab is a globally significant Defence and Aerospace precinct being developed adjacent to the Airport and RAAF Base Williamtown, which is set to ultimately deliver 5,500 new jobs and global connectivity, providing access to world-leading education and learning, remarkable spaces and experiences.
The Position
Reporting into the Planning Manager, the position of Design Manager is responsible for managing the design process for all projects including Civil & Building works.
Main responsibilities:
Provide Design Management services across the yearly CAPEX programs
Manage the Design process from initiation through to implementation
Maintain reporting and documentation of processes, including briefing material, non-technical specifications, quotation requests, requests for tender and contract documentation for the pre-construction services
Engage and manage stakeholders
Develop project staging plans and programs to minimize impacts to airport operation during all phases of construction
Coordinate the RFI process and manage technical queries with consultants
Provide ongoing updates to the delivery team
Qualifications & Experience:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Building Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or Project Management
Previous experience in Client-Side Design Management
Ability to manage multiple projects across the entire project life-cycle
Demonstrated capability meeting project deadlines and budget requirements
Experience in MS Project, Outlook, Excel & Word
Understanding of WHS legislation and requirements
Previous experience in Contracts Administration
Ideally have previous knowledge covering both Civil & Building projects
Ideally previous experience in Aviation industry
