Consumer Claims Paralegal Job at easyJet in Luton Airport
JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for supporting the management, coordination and processing of consumer legal challenges, with a focus on mediation/ADR cases against easyJet as a result of operational disruption.
Assisting easyJet’s French Legal Advisor to manage the processing of legal claims received by easyJet from legal representatives or customers claiming compensation and requesting refunds for delays and cancellations.
The role holder will help to ensure that consumer claims for delays/ cancellations are immediately assessed to determine those cases which should or should not be legally challenged.
The role holder will help manage all ADR cases (such as conciliations) and will assist the customer service teams with complex pre-action cases
The role holder will be responsible for ensuring easyJet databases, systems and reports are accurately updated and key data disseminated across the business.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
To help manage the processing of legal claims received by easyJet from legal representatives or customers claiming compensation and requesting refunds for delays and cancellations, based upon easyJet’s terms and Conditions, EU 261 legislation and the Montreal Convention
To liaise with courts to keep track of ongoing procedures (postponements, judgment dates)
To manage court mediators cases (conciliations de justice)
To manage a caseload of litigated claims and mediation cases from initial inception to settlement / final hearing, including compliance with court timescales, liaisons with third party legal representatives, court mediators drafting defences, and trial preparation
To access and interrogate aviation operational systems to find and provide information which might be required to support the defence of mediation and court cases and or support out of court settlements
Support the French Legal Advisor’s liaisons with easyJet’s internal and external legal representatives across France to ensure co-ordination of cases and settlements / judgments
To advise customer service on EU 261 legislation and other consumer law enquiries from national regulatory and enforcement bodies
Maintain databases and systems to ensure consistency and accuracy of information relating to disruptions of flights
Ensuring the timely payment of claims and accurate recording of payment data
Maintaining the precedent and evidence database for the Disputes Team
To assist in the representation of easyJet’s interests in administrative commission matters
To provide, on occasion, legal translations
Requirements of the Role
Fluent/native French language (C1 minimum on CEFRL) is required
Existing knowledge of French civil procedure law is an advantage
Knowledge of the aviation industry is an advantage
A legal background (such as Diploma in higher education in law (DUT carrrieres juridiques), or bachelor (Licence) in French law or equivalent or a career as paralegal/legal assistant with an interest in civil litigation.

Experience in the use of Microsoft Office, including Excel & PowerPoint.
