About The RoleThe Chief Pilot, mandated by 14 CFR 119.69, is responsible for establishing and maintaining adequate flight crew members, ensuring initial and continued qualification requirements, and developing, revising, and administering pilot training programs. This position will require a full understanding of the CFRs applicable to Part 91, Part 133, Part 135, Part 137, and the company Operations Specifications. This position is based at Billings Flying Service in Billings, MT and reports to the Director of Operations. Travel will be required up to 75% based on company needs.

RequirementsWhat You’ll Do

Manages, supervises, and observes flight crew personnel to ensure compliance with Federal Regulations and company policies and procedures.

Creates and updates training materials and programs, including lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, instructional handouts, and other training aids.

Ensures that pilots and flight crew members are properly trained and qualified for necessary operations and that training records are certified and current.

Advises the appropriate personnel of the status of flight operations and the training of flight crewmembers and is responsible for crewmember standardization.

Selects, trains, and supervises instructors and check airmen to ensure effective pilot training and checking including annual meetings to review changes and identify deficiencies.

Maintains pilot(s) folders per 14 CFR 135.63(a)(4) and ensures individual pilot flight and duty times are kept current per 14 CFR 135.63(a)(4)(vii) on the Pilots Duty Log

Prepares and maintains proficiency records, flight schedules, reports and correspondence pertaining to operations activities.

Ensures all required and necessary materials are available to each flight crewmember.

Disseminates information to all crewmembers as pertains to routes, airports, NOTAMS, navaids, and Company policies.

Designates and qualifies instructor pilots for training.

Maintain an adequate roster of properly qualified, current, and available pilots to always meet Company requirements.

Serves as Ground and Flight Instructor and Check Airman as qualified/necessary. Responsible for establishing a ground and flight training program which meets or exceeds FAA and Company requirements.

Assist the Director of Operations in developing company procedures.

May serve as PIC, adhering to all applicable provisions and regulations.

Other duties as assigned.

Your Required QualificationsQualified to serve as Pilot-in-Command in at least one aircraft used in the company’s operation

No FAA violations/warnings in last five years.

Previous Check Airman Experience.

Technical knowledge of product line (CH-47) preferred.

Technical knowledge of maintenance and inspection criteria preferred.

The ability to understand and follow instructions and the ability to concentrate is required

Excellent written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Requires proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.

Requires the ability to handle multiple priorities at the same time and the ability to follow through on all tasks assigned.
