The IFTC is a world leader in the provision of firefighting training, providing skills, advice and resource in the Aviation, Offshore, Industrial, Marine and Civil Defence sectors. The catering team itself is an integral part of the business supporting the student’s welfare and nutrition throughout their stay.
We have a part time opening for a Catering Assistant/Stand in Chef to join our team! You will be appointed to assist the chefs in preparing, serving and on occasions cooking food to a consistent high standard, whilst working in accordance to food hygiene regulations, company policy and HACCAP control. The role itself is annualised with contracted hours of 22.35 hours per week. The successful candidate will be asked to stand down during quieter periods and to work additional hours during busier periods.
Your duties will vary during weekdays and weekends. Some of the weekday duties will include; providing help and support with meals in line with all food safety policies and legislation, preparation of vegetables/salads/packed lunches and ensuring all areas are clean and tidy after services; including washing of dining room tables, hot plate, dishwasher, pan wash etc. Costing sheets, daily cleaning schedule must be completed. Whilst main role will be Catering Assistant, you may be asked to cook breakfast/brunch or lunch/evening meal if student numbers are low. The weekend duties include; meeting and greeting students who arrive on weekends and provide them with a key for their room and any other help or assistance if required and preparation and cooking of meals.
This job is fast paced where no two days are the same, but we are a tight knit, friendly team who love the work we do.
What you need to do the job:
The successful post holder must hold a Level 2 in Food Safety and have Food Hygiene training.
You must also have the ability to achieve Level 3 in Food Safety, Level 2 in Food HACCP and a Level 2 in Food Allergen. This is an opportunity for someone who is flexible, has the ability to work unsupervised, cope under pressure and of course be a team player.
