TheCategory Manageris an integral part of the Marketing and Commercial team and will be responsible for selecting and implementingsnack, impulse, and bottled beverage programs. Along with merchandising initiatives and creating planograms for ops, the Category Manager will be responsible for implementation and support of other commercial initiatives all in order to meet the goals of the organization. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, providing related support to SSP Operations, support pricing process, submittals to update point of sales (POS), provide support for new openings, support and ensure marketing and commercial initiatives are executed, the development and implementation of category related action plans, as well as providing analysis into existing category programs. This position will report directly to the Commercial Category Senior Manager.

Essential Functions

Develop the overall strategy for responsible categories, research new product options in the category to drive sales and achieve targets. Provide category insights and proposals by analyzing marketing and customer data and monitoring relevant market conditions.

Manage the implementation of new program roll-outs, including but not limited to, data submissions, operations support, marketing collaboration, planograms, post roll-out analysis and compliance.

Utilize planogram software to create and/or update planograms based on placement optimization set forth by category specifics and best practices.

Lead the development of airport category management action plans rooted in commercial competencies and that have an operational focus. Bring in cross-functional departments to vet and help support the implementation of these programs, in order to deliver on the organization’s focus on average increased transactions, increased average check, incremental sales and customer service

Project manage as needed and ensure promotions and limited time offers are executed with all marketing materials and products in place

Provide feedback on marketing and commercial initiatives and ensure marketing and commercial best practices are being executed in operations. Develop action plans as needed to address opportunity areas.

Closely collaborate, partner, and develop strong relationships with each locations General Manager/Director of Operations and each Region’s Regional Vice President/Regional Director of Operations; drive the culture of an operationally centered organization and deliver on the needs of each airport

Closely collaborate and develop strong relationships with supplier partners/distributors to determine optimal product ranges, pricing, market trends, product awareness, competitor trends and planograms of products to promote sales opportunities.

Represent the commercial team in a professional manner at all times with the goal of growing influence and trust in the organization

Must have ability to travel, up to 20% of the time, within North America (US and Canada)

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Bachelor’s Degree required; marketing, business management, finance or related field desired

Minimum five (5) years’ experience in Category Management, preferably in the hospitality or food service industry

Documented experience in multi-unit restaurant and or foodservice operations and knowledge of principles and methods for showing category management experience within food and/or beverage products or services. This would include market researc…
