Akima LLC Business Development Account Manager-Aviation Operations Support
Akima, LLC is looking to hire a Business Development Account Manager to help lead business development activities to win work in new accounts and expand penetration in existing accounts within the Federal (focus on Army and Navy) Aviation Operations Support Services Markets.
Conducting market assessments and managing business development activities to support sustainable growth within the defined markets.
Responsible for identifying and qualifying new business development opportunities. These efforts will include assisting the Business Development and Operations leadership teams with the identification, qualification, and determination for bid of upcoming business development opportunities both inside and outside of the assigned business areas.
Responsible for maintaining the “pipeline” for new business and recapture efforts of existing contracts, ensuring accuracy of the data for all opportunities assigned under this position.
New business pursuits should be focused on, aviation contractor logistics support services including but not limited to, fixed wing and rotary wing maintenance, aircraft launch and recovery equipment maintenance, aviation depot support services, aircraft operations, and other aviation specific logistic efforts, for customers such as the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, Department of the Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Energy, National Aeronautics and Space Administration and other federal agencies.
Participation in the development of annual and long-range strategic business plans.
Driving requirements for marketing and tradeshow strategies and attending tradeshows and networking events. Managing trade show efforts and keeping trade show booths and materials current.
Identifying prospective customers using networking, referrals from current customers, POC listings from advance RFP postings, and professional organization meeting, conferences, and workshops.
Managing the opportunity pipeline process with probability of win calculations, revenue projections, and direct input to the company budget and forecasting process.
Determining teaming requirements for Prime efforts. Identify and qualify industry partners and identify teaming opportunities for Akima as a subcontractor.
Securing and managing Business Development consultants, and their contractual agreements.
Providing proposal development support, as needed, to meet growth objectives.
Working collaboratively with other assembled members of the company to design, develop, and publish proposal documents.
Coordinating and conducting proposal review teams.
Prior experience in managing scope, quality, schedule, and cost for Department of Defense (DoD) or other Federal projects at a senior level (Government or as a civilian contractor).
Prior government/military service in core business areas of aviation support.
10 years’ experience in DoD contracting; 5 to 7 years in support to business development.
Track record of success winning – $100M+ single award contracts with at least 5 wins in the previous 5 years, one of which was $100M+.
Track record of penetrating new markets, identifying new customers in adjacent markets and developing aviation support services tailored solutions to meet their specific needs.
Ability to lead interdisciplinary teams with varying levels of experience.
Deep knowledge of the federal procurement process, current acquisition trends and customer buying behaviors.
Experience presenting opportunity gate reviews, proposal reviews, and lesson learned reviews to senior executive staff.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications; Experience in technical writing.
Graphics presentation development skills are strongly desired.
Currently holds or has the ability to obtain a security clearance.
Proven management track record – project level or higher – that illustrates success in BD, Government Program/Project management, and general management responsibilities.
Bachelor’s degree in business – management, administration, or marketing, Master’s degree preferred. Active Duty Military experience and DoD schools and training may be substituted for consideration against the education requirements.
