The Collins Aerospace Avionics Test Engineering organization is a global engineering team responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the manufacturing test solutions in support of the $5B Avionics strategic business unit as well as external customers including armed services and airlines, both domestic and international. The organization is looking for a motivated individual to lead and develop the Systems Engineering team. As a key member of the leadership team, the Manager of Systems Engineering ensures they have a high-performing team in place to support the development of test engineering solutions at multiple locations across the United States.

This is a multi-faceted role requiring versatility across a variety of tasks in a highly collaborative environment. The role requires working closely with engineers and leaders, at various locations around the globe, to ensure project success. Organizationally, the role reports to the Systems and Architecture Department Manager of Avionics Test Engineering.
Develop strong systems engineering processes, templates, and training to provide a common systems approach across all the Avionics Test Engineering sites.
Develop test strategies for operations, including product test requirements, test flow analysis, and test coverage techniques.
Support the Avionics Architecture team and Product Test teams to assist and ensure that good systems practices are being followed on all developments.
Building and sustaining a high-performing team by selecting and on-boarding exemplary new talent, and constantly training, coaching, mentoring, managing performance, and developing aspirational career plans.

Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience.
OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years’ experience.
OR In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required.
Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder.
A bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience or an advanced degree with 3 years of experience.
Extensive experience in a system’s engineering role.
Previous people leadership experience is desired, ideally including leading remote/virtual teams.

Ability to travel occasionally to multiple locations across the United States in support of both the team and the organization.
Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader. **Must reside within 60 miles of Cedar Rapids, IA. (All training will be onsite.)
