Position Description:
Remote Positions Available for WA, TX, AZ
LeoStella requires an experienced, creative, and energetic SW Test Engineer to join a growing team creating software systems for satellites. We need an exceptional individual contributor who enjoys working very closely with embedded systems developers in an agile and dynamic environment where schedules are critical. Our ideal candidate possesses expert domain knowledge regarding QA methodologies and test case automation, as well as extensive experience building and utilizing test automation frameworks, test harnesses, and a variety of testing tools.
In the Software Test role, you will test a combination of hardware and software components that make our small satellite constellations come to life. Validate scale and stability in the integrated system. Work with aerospace experts to determine hardware testing need and how to accomplish it expeditiously. Spread passion for quality and be a valuable voice in the process of building a superior product.
You will collaboratively manage the entire operational infrastructure, and Continuous Integration/ Continuous Delivery process. Participate in design discussions, figuring out what is working, what will work in the future, or what needs to be re-vamped.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and execute tests for major components of the satellite avionics system
Contribute to and drive design and review of test automation frameworks, test implementation, strategy and approach
Focus on integration testing between disparate components
Work with developers and systems engineers to develop test plans and validate unit tests
Coordinate with developers and satellite operators on complex integration tests
Create automated testing where possible and perform regular manual testing where not
Manage SW production infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code configuration management tools/processes
Design, develop, and document the CI/CD system for the flight software, ground and control system
Design, develop, and support monitoring infrastructure to ensure service uptime
Support deployment of a complex set of satellite and vendor ground components emulations

Required Qualifications:

Must be a U.S. Person. Due to government regulation of the space industry, this requirement cannot be waived.
Bachelor of Science or greater degree in CS, CE, EE, Physics, or Math
2+ years of experience testing and maintaining commercial software in a production environment
Proficiency with C, C++, and Python programming languages
CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
Virtualization and Emulation such as Docker and QEMU
Linux build systems such as Buildroot or Yocto
Software version control via tools such as Git/Gitlab
Hardware test bench development and maintenance

Desired Qualifications:

Able to design a basic infrastructure, including networking security, systems, deployments, automation, etc., from scratch
Experience with the following tools/processes: Git, JIRA, makefile
Familiarity with agile methodologies, software product and release life cycles, source code and change management
Experience with requirements management tools
Experience with integrating open source software with internal development is highly desired
