Huntington Ingalls Industries – Mission Technologies is currently seeking an Aviation Safety Program Manager to support our government customers in East Africa. The Aviation Safety Program Manager will be instrumental in maintaining both Ground and Aviation Safety concepts in support of the United States (U.S.) Africa Command (USAFRICOM). This position is part-time and CONUS based

Essential Job Responsibilities

Provides senior-level expertise and direction in the development or modification and performance of all tasks necessary to ensure the identification and documentation of hazards within systems or systems-of-systems using various analysis tools and techniques.
Understands all the elements of system safety engineering including hazard analyses, hazard categorization (in terms of severity and likelihood), end effects, causal analyses, mitigation requirements identification, documentation, tracking and implementation, and residual risk assessment.
Typical analyses performed include functional analyses, hazard analyses, safety requirements analyses, hazard mitigation, safety risk assessments, reliability analyses, and system residual risk assessments.
Performs minimal safety program management tasks including progress reports and tracking schedules.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s Degree or other 2-year technical degrees in related discipline and 1 year of related experience; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years related experience.
Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across, and down multiple business and technology organizations;
Demonstrated communication skills; both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff, at all levels of management;
Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Clearance- Must be able to obtain/maintain a Secret Clearance

Preferred Requirements

10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.

Former military manned aircraft pilot
USN/USMC Aviation Safety School graduate with associated Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) code
A thorough understanding of procedures and safety assessments to ensure compliance with all FAA, DoD, and international aviation organization standards and directives.
Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence;
Build and maintain relationships by engaging business leaders to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus and achieve objectives;
Self-motivated, and decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands.
Proven ability to learn, understand and apply new technologies.
Swahili – Beginner / Intermediate (ILR Level 1 / 2)
