Aviation Safety Manager Job at Top Aces Corp. – in Mesa, AZ

SUMMARY: Responsible for facilitating the advancement of the TAC Safety Management System (SMS), assisting OL Managers with Root Cause Analysis, and managing Change and Risk Assessments. In doing so, you will promote compliance and ensure safety to Regulatory Agencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the TAC Safety Management System (SMS) covering all areas in the Company. Assist in the promotion of the SMS in the Maintenance Department.

Assist in the drafting of SMS Risk Assessments and Management of Change forms.

Input and maintain all of the SMS documentation into the SMS database as required.

Monitor the effective implementation of policies, procedures, and programs through the Safety Assurance Process.

Ability to work with front line employees to achieve cultural change within the Maintenance Organization.

Assist in the development and presentation of SMS training of Maintenance personnel.

Conducts comprehensive risk analysis, audits, and observations, and works with management to develop mitigation strategies to address root causes.

Conducts Safety Investigations of significant operational mishaps and performs Safety evaluations at facilities to proactively identify and mitigate safety and health hazards.

Assist each OL manager with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations.

Ensure compliance with applicable regulations by all personnel.

Inspect work areas for compliance with all applicable regulations, including but not limited to OSHA and EPA.

Attend safety/compliance meetings at the applicable OL.

Maintain positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, and regulatory agencies.

Interfaces with other departments, regarding maintenance safety issues and programs.

Assists in the Development and distributes maintenance safety articles, alerts, and briefs to communicate critical maintenance safety information.

Responds to the issues raised by those reports by providing appropriate briefings to company management and posting Maintenance Safety alerts, briefs, and bulletins for maintenance employees.

Responsible to create and compile information for the Maintenance Safety Briefing.

Act as a liaison in between OL’s for Continuing Analysis and Surveillance System (CASS), RCA.

Interface with the Maintenance Department by participating in Management Reviews.

Supports the company accident/incident and injury reduction efforts by developing proactive and educational safety programs and by sharing safety data and trends to reduce the frequency and severity of mishaps.

Participates and works as a Safety Team Leader in an event of an accident.

Responsible for the Company’s Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs.

Under the company’s Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) program, you will have the following responsibilities as a Manager/Supervisor:

Providing a safe and healthy workplace, including ensuring each employee under your supervision possesses or has access to necessary and applicable safety equipment, systems, and properly maintained tools.

Ensuring staff are provided with applicable safety information, training, instruction, and supervision to protect the general occupational health and safety of employees.

Ensuring employees know and comply with OH&S requirements.

Supporting and consulting with OH&S committees, if organized, and OH&S representatives on all matters to improve workplace OH&S, including regular safety inspections of the workplace.

To reduce product and ‘safety of flight’ risks to an acceptable level, you must actively participate in the TAC Safety Management System (SMS), which includes:

Communication of safety risks to employees and their roles and responsibilities related to these risks.

Continuous improvement of the company’s Safety Management System and risk controls.

Compliance with applicable safety laws and regulations.

Promote product safety, environmental responsibility and employee health and safety on and off the job. Promote a work environment in which safety of flight and employee safety hazards and risks are continuously identified and eliminated or, at a minimum, controlled through assessment and oversight; lead safety-related event investigations; ensure employees receive appropriate safety training related to the SMS and other corporate requirements.

Manages functions related to the ISP aspects of the SMS including; managing staff in support of emergency preparedness and response planning, compliance, fire safety and industrial hygiene. Supports requirements of Safety Management System.

Member of the Safety Team.

Directs corporate safety initiatives and reviews corporate SMS goals and progress towards meeting these goals; coordinates implementation and execution of SMS elements that are common to all sites.

Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.

Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS

Aviation experience is required.

Accident investigation, root cause analysis (RCA).

Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.

Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

International and travel throughout the U.S. may be required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

Excellent computer proficiency (MS Software Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Project).

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

A&P Certificate a plus

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE

General aviation experience and knowledge of FAA and DOD requirements.

10 years of management experience in safety and occupational health.

OHSA/Safety regulatory experience

A bachelor degree preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
