The Lead Captain reports to the Hilcorp Alaska Director of Aviation. The duties and responsibilities are listed below. They may delegate duties but not the responsibility for those duties.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Has been delegated with Operational Control Authority of CFR Part 91 and CFR Part 135 flight operations.

Fulfil the requirements for Chief Pilot with company CFR Part 135 Operations Specifications.

Coordinates with the Aviation Operations Manager and Director of Aviation concerning Company operational policies and procedures.

Assume the duties of the Director of Aviation in their absence, including, but not limited to, the responsibility for the safety and operational control of all flights conducted under 14 CFR Part 91 and 135 operations.

Direct and guide all flight crew members to insure they operate in compliance with company standards and applicable government regulations.

Direct and administer the day-to-day flight operations in accordance with established Company policies and procedures to insure the highest level of safety.

Ensure that day-to-day flight operations and records thereof comply with applicable Company, FAA, and other Federal, State, and local regulations.

Monitor crew scheduling to ensure compliance with Company policy and Federal Air Regulations.

Conducts crewmember Company training and standardization.

Participate in and promote utilization of the HAK Safety Management System.

Adheres to the company’s values – integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment, and innovation.

Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.

Other Job Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

Meet the requirements of 14 CFR Part 119.71 for Part 135 Chief Pilot

Eight (8) years minimum of experience piloting small aircraft.

Experience supervising, directing, and maintaining the training of direct reports in the performance of routine duties preferred.

Acts upon an acquired knowledge of how equipment functions, anticipates and corrects problems before they occur or before other parts of aviation equipment are affected.

Demonstrates the ability to routinely operate aviation equipment unsupervised, while maintaining equipment in a safe, environmentally sound condition and maintaining neat and accurate records of the operations.

Demonstrates the ability to recognize when non-standard or non-routine conditions exist, notify supervisory staff, and offer recommendations for solutions to the problem.

Basic mathematic and mechanical skills.

Ability to travel to remote locations via large and small planes, helicopter or boat, and ability to don and doff immersion suit.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.

Ability to consider safety in all decisions.

Education Requirements:

Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent or any equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating sufficient knowledge, ability and skill to handle the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

Airline Transport Pilot (ATP)
