We are currently seeking an Aviation Certification Director to lead cross-functional teams to certify the company’s battery management systems with the FAA, EASA, and other global agency requirements. This role will also serve as the primary interface to regulatory agencies to define certification requirements. This position is located in North Logan, Utah, with the potential for remote work virtually in the U.S.
WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:
Determine the certification basis and means of compliance and defining implement the certification strategy for electric propulsion and traditional aircraft battery products
Directing the development of certification documentation with alignment to the certification strategy and means of compliance.
Provide strategic guidance to the EP Systems engineering organization towards effective engagement with industry standards committees developing of certification standards which will impact future compliance.
Lead cross-functional teams to execute the certification plan for the company’s products Plan and coordinate certification tests
Manage selection and engagement with contracted DERs
Work with OEMs and ODAs to coordinate certification strategies and support aircraft certification projects
Develop and maintain strong regulatory agency relationships
Bachelor degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or related engineering field
10 years project management experience in an aerospace company
5 years aviation certification leadership equipment certification or TC or STC projects
Strong knowledge of FAA certification procedures (Part 21) and airworthiness regulations (Part 23,25 or 33)
Strong knowledge of DO-160, DO-254, DO-178, AC 23:1309, ARP4754A, and ARP4761
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience with certification of electrical systems and equipment
Travel up to 20%
Master of Science degree
FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER)
Experience with certification of electrical systems and equipment under TSO
Strong knowledge of emerging certification basis from EASA, the FAA, and standards organizations for electric aircraft
Experience with aircraft battery certification
Knowledge of high voltage systems
