The Role
As the APS6 Project Support Officer for Navy Army Aviation Acquisition Program Office (NA3PO), you will work within an integrated team to provide advice, assistance and services on Defence industry policy and other requirements to support Projects through all stages of the Capability Life Cycle. You will assist with procurement planning and contract formation, ensuring compliance with Defence procurement and industry legislation, policies, processes and procedures.

You will have considerable levels of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex issues to understand their requirements and concerns and respond to queries on Australian Industry Capability (AIC) issues, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of actions where necessary. You will be responsible for providing AIC best practice to projects and ensure AIC risks are mitigated.

To support this, NA3PO are developing a number of strategic initiatives, including:

  • An AIC Toolkit populated with guidance, tools, presentations and other resources for Projects.
  • A new breed of commercial arrangements to deliver opportunities for Australian industry in Government-to-Government procurements; and
  • An AIC Strategy for NA3PO.

The successful candidate will be integral in these activities, which could be rolled out across the Air Domain and wider Defence.

Day-to-day tasks could include but not limited to;

  • Reviewing RFT packs.
  • Preparing for tender evaluations.
  • Reviewing or drafting Gate approval documentation.
  • Establishing a Project’s Investment Committee required AIC Narrative.
  • Supporting a Sovereign Industrial Capability Priority assessment.
  • Attending Smartbuyer workshops.
  • Participating in Offer Definition and Improvement Activities. Presenting to industry, and briefing DGAVN, DGAAS or FASRASSD.

About our Team
NA3PO was established in 2019 as the primary acquisition agency supporting both Army Aviation Systems (AAS) and Navy Aviation, Aircrew Training and Commons (NATC) branches within the Rotary, Aerospace and Surveillance Systems Division (RASSD).

We manage and deliver the acquisition of high value and complex military rotary wing, tactical unmanned aerial systems, pilot and aircrew training systems for the ADF.NA3PO aims to leverage the advantages of a consolidated organisation to improve cross service collaboration and integration between Navy, Army and Air Force Programs and realise functional efficiencies through streamlined processes and practices in support of capability delivery as projects proceed through their life cycle.NA3PO has a high performing culture and successful candidates can expect to be challenged in their role.

You have strong written and verbal communication skills and can effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders. You either have a demonstrated understanding of and/or experience in procurement and contract management or you can tell us how you would quickly obtain this knowledge.
You understand that commercial awareness, highly developed interpersonal skills, and a knowledge of the Commonwealth Procurement Framework will be valued as part of your job.
You will have an understanding of Defence strategic direction and align with Defence legislation, policies and procedures.
