We currently have vacancies for Aircraft Mechanics to work within the Aircraft Maintenance Section at RAF Northolt. The base is used by both military and civilian aircraft and is home to both the 32 (The Royal) Squadron and the 63 Squadron RAF Regiment (Queen’s Colour Squadron).
In this role you’ll undertake rectification and scheduled maintenance tasks on the RAF’s fleet of BAe146 Aircraft. This position offers you the chance to work closely with, and directly support, 32 (The Royal) Squadron, which provides an exciting and unique service to the Government and Armed Services. Your duties include Flight line operations and flight servicing scheduled maintenance and repair tasks on Aircraft and Airframe / Mechanical Systems. In addition to engineering duties, personnel will be expected to discharge the duties of an RAF aircraft technician, including overseas deployment on the specific periods when activated in their Sponsored Reserve role.
You will be part of a team which takes great pride in providing a service which is recognised at a national level. As the position is linked to the RAF Sponsored Reserve service it also offers the chance for considerably enhanced salary when deployed.
What you need to do the job:
For this role you’ll need to hold a recognised level of Aeronautical / Mechanical engineering training and demonstrable practical experience in aircraft maintenance. We are looking for previous experience of working within a UK Military Aviation Environment. However, we welcome candidates with both civil and military experience and our team benefits from having both. Experience or qualifications on the BAe146 aircraft is desirable although we do provide BAe146 training for candidates with no previous aircraft type experience.
This role requires the ability to hold / pass UK SC level security vetting. Ideally the successful post holder will also hold a full UK driving Licence.

There is reasonable opportunity for voluntary overtime.
Sponsored Reservist training is provided which is not onerous and is aimed at candidates with no previous military experience and normal levels of fitness. Any candidates who have previous military experience will be able to bypass most of this training. Completion of this training attracts an additional tax-free allowance of £3,000 per year.
