Summary

About the Position: The position is located at the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCoE), Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobility and Security, Ft. Benning, Georgia 31905. The “Maneuver Center of Excellence” is located 100 miles south of Atlanta and is adjacent to Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Alabama. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Public transportation and free parking is available.

Responsibilities

Perform parking, ground handling and servicing to various types of aircraft.

Serve as the Airfield Services Branch supervisor, exercising supervisory responsibility over the work operations of the Branch and all shifts (the Branch works a three shift operation).

Install armament safety pins, wheel chocks, and ground wires on parked aircraft.

Use publications to service various types of aircraft.

Perform various grounds maintenance tasks in and around the airfield.

Inspect runways for damage of pavement areas, signs, and taxiway lights etc.

This position requires a valid state drivers license.

This position requires the incumbent to take a pre-employment physical.

This position requires the incumbent to work shift work.

This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random Drug testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

This position has been designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions/emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

This position requires heavy lifting up to 75 pounds.

I have the ability to perform common tasks including meeting and guiding aircraft across active runways to parking areas. I can direct and secure aircraft in parked position. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Efforts: Works on stands and in hard-to-reach places . Incumbent is required to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, and work in tiring positions. Incumbent is required to wear appropriate safety equipment and clothing in the performance of assigned tasks, and to observe applicable safety regulations. Incumbent is frequently required to lift baggage, equipment, parts, etc., that weigh up to 75 pounds.

Working Conditions: Incumbent is required to work inside and outside. Inside work is done in drafty, noisy areas, and fumes are usually present. Outside work is done in occasional bad weather. Incumbent works in dirty, dusty, and greasy areas; in close proximity of moving propellers and danger from fumes, fire, and falling objects. There is also frequent exposure to the possibility of cuts, burns, shocks, strains, and broken bones.
