Summary
Possess extensive knowledge to perform the manufacturing and/or assembly of any aircraft components/operations such as any aircraft final assembly, substructures, main structures, fuel and hydraulic systems, brake systems, air conditioning, etc. Possess extensive knowledge of aircraft hardware specifications (AN, MS, hardware standards). Plan and lay out any complex and intricate sheet metal assembly and installation.Make extensive repairs and rework on any aircraft as required to return assemblies to blue print specifications.Required to work with a wide variety of aircraft sealants and or adhesives.Use of hand tools common to structural or final assembly; drill motors, routers, sanders, metal shrinkers, pneumatic shears, and assortment of riveting equipment, (rivet guns, blind fastener, squeeze, screw and sealing guns, etc).May require loading all types of aircraft assembly fixtures and utilize material moving equipment.Use of precision measuring equipment such as: calipers, scales, and plug gages in the performance of duties.Work independently, or with other team members, and with minimal direction from Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work from and follow process specifications, work orders, travelers, station paperwork, blueprints, rework/rejection tags, schedules, Aircraft Production Orders, schematics, layout & modifications sheets, engineering orders, Piper Production Spec (PPS), Piper Material Spec (PMS), Material Review Board and verbal/written instruction. Maintain work area, bins, and all procedures to conform to FAA ACSEP requirements.
Report any shortages to Production Control personnel.
Work with different gauges and types of sheet metal such as stainless steel, aluminum etc.
Clean surface and apply sealant per Piper Process Specifications (PPS).
May require loading component parts into jig/fixture. Call for inspection, work off squawks.Assist team leader in maintaining schedule of units through line station.
Lay out and mark dimension reference lines, hole locations as required to fabricate and install repairs on assemblies and detail parts according to paperwork or instructions.
Drill, ream, rivet, fit, countersink, adjust, finish, and inspect part to assure specifications are met. Hand fit, trim, finish, and inspect parts while maintaining integrity and specification requirements.
Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces.
Depending on dept processes, may require knowledge of landing gears & hydraulic system installation, engine rigging, fit & fair cowls, control surface installation and rigging, and instrument panel and avionics wiring installations.
Maintain all necessary records, files, and reports. Report correct labor hours such as Production traveler, Rework traveler, Off Station traveler.
Interpret complicated blueprints, sketches, of product specifications to determine sequence and methods to assemble and repair sheet metal assemblies.
Lay out and mark dimension reference lines, hole locations on material to develop and trace patterns of product or parts to tolerance mating/fixture according to paperwork or instructions.
Must have working knowledge of Piper parts.
Scrutinize every facet of job and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to such as oversize or elongated holes, improper countersinking, riveting, trimming, bonding, or assembly and installation issues, etc. to Leadperson, Supervisor, or Quality Assurance.
Perform housekeeping chores as department requirements dictate.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Required to train and assist other employees. Will be required to train and assist other team members.May be called upon by Supervisor to assess/plan/organize workstation activities utilizing teamwork concepts.

Education and Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and over 5 years related experience and training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills
Ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers in both written and oral form. .Ability to recognize and communicate ways to improve design, assembly and installation methods, tools, procedures.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to perform the duties of the job applying basic mathematics such as; addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to apply basic geometry principles for shapes such as circles, triangles, squares, rectangles, cones, etc.
